Total Recycling:
Most of the plastic recycling companies and brokers are very selective in what type of material they want to buy. The disadvantage to the supplier is that with this approach increases very large amount of hidden cost. Hidden cost in most of the large companies come from multiple handling of the products, time and manpower required in doing sorting, warehousing cost to accumulate truckload quantities of each product, marketing and data entry done at management level for the marketing of individual products. We like to look at the whole recycling picture and provide a total solution which can eliminate or minimize all the above hidden cost. We start by looking into what scrap is going in the landfill. “
We like to start business relationship with our new suppliers by eliminating their landfill cost. Scope of the project involves following steps:
|
- Identify product going in the landfill
- Identify other recyclable scrap that is sold but not segregated enough to maximize the value for the supplier
- Work with each team leader to find a workable solutions for various streams that is practical to implement for the plant people without increasing extra handling.
- Propose a “Total” solution which involves all the scrap.
- Make a list of various types of scrap ( based on quality). For example, purging, dust collector material, floor sweepings, Lab scrap, developmental material, off grade pellets, obsolete material etc.
- Place a trailer at the supplier’s location so that scrap is place in the trailer as soon as it is generated. When the trailer is full, replace with another empty.
- We encourage our suppliers to look into possibility for us to take their scrap and process it so that it can be reused by the supplier.
- If the supplier is interested, we also look into possibility of providing with one stop service by also servicing cardboard and metal scrap along with the plastic scrap.
